Daria Shipukhina

Mixed Media Artist

Daria is an artist based in London, UK, born in Moscow, Russia. Daria studied Architecture and fine art at Moscow Architectural University and UCL. With the strong background in architecture, she combines her training in academic drawing and painting with the freedom of pure gestural abstraction.

She works with mixed media, focusing on landscape and floral subjects, creating artworks defined by rich textures and expressive lines—both essential elements in shaping her visual narrative.

She is a member of ArtCan and her work has featured in many exhibitions and open studio events in London.

I create new mythology of places, inhibiting them with her own experience and memories.
In working with the spontaneous nature of the medium, I find refuge from the imperative of concious decision making. The fluidity of natural shapes is celebrated by bringing out various viscous qualities of raw pigments combined with paint and ink applied to pre prepared surfaces.
The result of the dynamic connections of the pigments and their interaction with the texture becomes the point of reference of the spectator’s dynamic affetation.
