Daria Shipukhina

Mixed Media Artist

As an artist, I firmly believe that any object or concept has the potential to serve as the material for an artwork. My artistic practice centers around the idea of aesthetic experience, which aligns with the philosophy of pragmatism, wherein this experience can transcend beyond the confines of traditional art into the most unexpected contexts. Therefore, as an artist I am in constant search.

Throughout my education and career I focused on architecture, interior design and art. It is the combination of these subjects that gives me multi-angled approach and tools to develop my own visual language.
In my artistic practice I actualise themes that have always concerned humanity, which is connected to nature and its transient state. Working with subject matter such as landscapes, plants and natural forms she creates artworks rich with textures and multi layered compositions.
I create new mythology of places, inhibiting them with her own experience and memories.
Within the paradigm of metamodernism, my artistic practice revolves around achieving equilibrium between experimental form and material, blending the evident with the imaginative.
I create convergences, transitions, polarities in many complex ways. I abandon the constancy of form and form-containing connectinos. I return to abstraction in order torelate it to feeling. Through the manipulation of real forms,

I craft images that represent the paths my artistic exploration takes me. These artworks serve as reflections of our interaction with reality, influenced by memory, perception, and emotion.
While developing my work, I combine my training in academic drawing and painting with the freedom of pure gestural abstraction. Through the use of experimental drawing methods drawn from direct observation, particular attention is paid to the character and personality of the form.
In working with the spontaneous nature of the medium, I find refuge from the imperative of concious decision making. The fluidity of natural shapes is celebrated by bringing out various viscous qualities of raw pigments combined with paint and ink applied to pre prepared surfaces.
My works in this technique transcend the flatness of the canvas without losing the quality of pictorial abstraction.
The dynamics in my work embodies the second thesis of movement in the philosophy of Henri Bergston: movement unfolds between two objects, the relatioin itself is movement.
The result of the dynamic connections of the pigments and their interaction with the texture becomes the point of reference of the spectator’s dynamic affetation.
In this way, I transform the relations of the participants in the aesthetic process, including myself: I am simultaniously an active creator and a silent observer.
