While Infinite Loop is an object to be observed, Urban Experiment extends the line into the world, inviting interaction within an urban setting. It was tested in three contexts: shaped as a path for skaters, formed into a bench on a seafront, and placed in a children’s playground in the woods. Like the line in my paintings, it adapts to its environment—narrowing into a single contour or expanding into a larger colour field. Over time, it merges with its surroundings, transcending its two-dimensional origins and generating new spatial conditions in each setting.
The participatory aspect is central to the work’s meaning: as people engage with it, they actively shape its use and significance. This evolving interaction highlights the importance of adaptability and reinforces the idea that space is co-created through experience.
